Gateway to Wales

Four nights dinner, bed & breakfast at the Bells Hotel & Country Club

Day One - You will be collected from your agreed pick up point and taken to the city of Coventry where you will be able to have lunch if you wish and explore for a while, before we continue our journey to Coleford. A welcome fruit juice and porterage is arranged for you on arrival.

Day Two - This morning we take you over the border into Wales and the town of Chepstow.  Chepstow boasts a magnificent Norman Castle, near the castle is the Old Wye Bridge which crosses the River Wye between Monmouthshire and Gloucestershire. If you stand on the bridge you can actually have a foot in both countries! Although this bridge dates back to 1816 the older, wooden bridge was constructed in Norman times. We return to the hotel in time for the evening meal.

Day Three – After breakfast today we set off for a beautiful scenic drive along the Wye Valley to Tintern Abbey. Tintern Abbey was founded by Walter de Clare, Lord of Chepstow, on 9 May 1131. We then carry on to the city of Newport where you can spend the rest of the morning and afternoon exploring. We return to the hotel in time for the evening meal.

Day Four – Today we have two visits for you, the first to Hay on Wye in Breckonshire, Wales, where it is market day. This afternoon we cross back over the border into Herefordshire when we take you to the town of Ledbury. Look out here for the beautiful timber structures.  We will arrive back at the hotel in time for dinner.

Day Five - Sadly today we must leave this beautiful area behind and make our way back to Lincolnshire and our original boarding points. On the way back we will stop at Burton on Trent for you to get lunch if you wish.
