Northumbrian Treasures

Four nights dinner, bed & breakfast at the Holiday Inn Jesmond

Please note:  Hotel change to one advertised in brochure

Day 1 – We travel to Northumbria enjoying free time in the cathedral city of Durham before we complete our journey to Newcastle & the Holiday Inn Jesmond.

Day 2 – Today we will explore the towns of the north, Rothbury & Hexham. Our first stop will be Rothbury, this market town is located 26 miles north of Newcastle and is set in the heart of the Northumbrian countryside. In the town centre you will find quaint shops, restaurants and cafes all nestled next to the River Coquet that runs through the centre itself. Our next stop is the town of Hexham. This town sits on the south bank of the River Tyne with the famous Hadrian’s wall close by. This cultural town is home to art galleries, museums and unique shops. We will return to the hotel in time for the evening meal.

Day 3 Bamburgh Castle is our first stop today, explore one of the most impressive castles in England. The castle sits perched on the rocks at the edge of the sea, giving magnificent views of the Farne Islands. We will spend the afternoon in the beautiful Lindisfarne (timings will depend on the tides of the causeway) before returning to the hotel in time for the evening meal.

Day 4 – The medieval town of Alnwick is our destination for today. We start with a visit to Alnwick Gardens. The spectacular grounds are surrounded by walls over 250 years old and it is believed to be one of the oldest walled gardens in the world. Spend the afternoon walking the cobbled streets of Alnwick, grab a spot of lunch or take in a bit of culture before we return to the hotel in time for the evening meal.

Day 5 – We leave Northumbria behind and make our way back to Lincolnshire calling at the city of York on the way. We will return everyone to their original boarding points.
